Description: The Raritan Valley Science & Technology Showcase (RVSTS), in partnership with Bridgewater Commons, brings one of the largest robotics events in the tri-state area to Bridgewater Commons for the first time. The RVSTS was developed and produced by four local FIRST® High School Robotics Teams:

  • R.O.B.B.E., Team 56, Bound Brook High School, Bound Brook NJ
  • RoboRaiders, Team 75, Hillsborough High School, Hillsborough NJ
  • The Gearheads, Team 102, Somerville High School, Somerville NJ
  • The Daleks, Team 3637, Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Flemington NJ

Free to the public, the showcase focuses on K-12 students to inspire and energize them to not only think big but to develop the science, technology, engineering, and math skills needed to become tomorrow’s innovators and leaders.

The Goals of RVSTS:

  • Foster and increase STEM interests in the next generation
  • Reach a diverse demographic community not generally exposed to FIRST® Robotics and STEM events

Participants Include:

  • High School FIRST® Robotics Competition teams from the tri-state
  • FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge robotics teams featuring grades 4-8
  • Business leaders from various technology companies and nonprofits
  • Colleges, universities, and other educational institutions

The event activities will be held across two levels of the shopping center including the following:

Lower Level

  • Live large-scale robot competitions in the Center Court throughout the day
  • Interactive robot workspaces where you can get up close and learn more about how the robots work
  • FIRST® LEGO® Robots
  • Sensory-Friendly STEM activities

Main Level

  • Tri-state College & Career Fair
  • STEM activities and seminars held in the Community Hub
  • Public Robot Driving and STEM Organization Exhibits

“We are excited to bring the first ever RVSTS to Bridgewater Commons — both to showcase the work of current students and inspire others in the community to pursue interests in Science and Technology.  Bridgewater Commons has been instrumental in helping R.O.B.B.E. succeed in the last year, and we look forward to engaging the public with robotics and science in interactive ways.” Gregg Talewsky, 9-Year Team 56 Mentor from Bound Brook High School.
